The Schafer case has been recognized among the legal community and the public as being the landmark case in Arkansas that overturned the punitive damage cap legislation of 2003, as well as the case that played a great part in the negotiations for the global $750,000,000.00 settlement of the rice GMO state and federal litigation.

In 2011, Mr. Kelly acted as co-lead trial counsel in the Lonoke County Circuit Court case, Kimberly Patrick, et al. vs. Weaver-Bailyey Contractors, Inc., et al., wherein Ariel Anderson, a young lady who was severely injured in a highway construction site on U.S. Highway 67-167 in Pulaski County, Arkansas, received a jury verdict of $17 million.

Most recently, in September of 2016, Mr. Kelly acted as lead counsel in a Conway County Circuit Court case, Elmer Philpot vs. Hankook Tire Co., LTD, et al. wherein Mr. Elmer Philpot, a 70 year old dump truck driver, received a $1.2 million jury verdict as a result of an accident caused by a defective Hankook tire.

In 2012, Mr. Kelly was a co-recipient of the Outstanding Trial Lawyer of the Year Award from the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association.

Mr. Kelly also manages a family rice, corn, soybean, and cattle farm of over 6000 acres in Lonoke and Prairie Counties, Arkansas. As such, Mr. Kelly is intimately familiar with the legal and practical issues associated with irrigation water management, mitigation of water resources, and other aspects of agriculture.
